Project Overview
3eco came up to us with an existing ecosystem of mobile and web applications that had been poorly put together. They expected us to deep dive into the existing applications and revamp their entire ecosystem to fit the product goals and user needs. Upon understanding the lay of the land of the applications, we were able to picture 3 applications (2 mobile and 1 web) as the foundation of the business and the personas that would use these applications were the Enterprise Professionals (EPro), Connectivity Professionals (CPro) and Service Professionals (SPro).
Enterprise Professional: Stakeholders who's main goal would be to monitor the day to day business numbers, ensure smooth operations of the ecosystem.
Connectivity Professional: Managers that work within their region at a warehouse and run the day to day activities such as onboarding vehicles, drivers, handle assignment of vehicles to drivers and ensure regular vehicle maintenance.
Service Professional: Drivers that use the rickshaws for passenger rides/delivery of goods on behalf of enterprise clients.
Design Process
The design throughout the entire project followed an iterative process which consisted of the following steps,
Stakeholder interviews
Personas
Wireframes
Visual design
User testing
HEURISTIC EVALUATION
Since a basic version of the applications were already built, it was necessary to perform a heuristic evaluation of the applications. This exercise gave us a clear picture of,
Features to be maintained
Features to be discarded
Feature to be revamped
This outcome also formed the foundation for the construction of the new information architecture of the applications.
PERSONAS
The brainstorming session with the clients during the field gave us solid insights into the core personas within the environment and helped us craft their requirements for a seamless day to day work work experience.
Enterprise Professional
Monitors services completed and revenue generated.
Access reports regarding driver performance and vehicle maintenance.
Defines pricing for services such as Rides/Deliveries.
Connectivity Professional
Onboards rickshaws, drivers and assigns drivers to rickshaws.
Oversees regular checkups and maintenance of vehicles.
Monitors driver attendance, vehicle incidents and disputes.
Service Professional
Picks up the assigned vehicle and performs rides/deliveries.
INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE
Information was defined for the three personas, Enterprise professional (EPro), Connectivity professional (CPro) and Service professional (SPro)
EPRO WEB APP
EPro Web app helps various members of the organisation to monitor information such services completed, revenue generated, employee performance. At the same time, new employees, vehicles, drivers and warehouses can be created as and when the business grows.
Wireframes
A glimpse of the wireframes for the web application. The goal was to provide a simple, intuitive interface that makes it easy to track KPIs and make informed decisions based on statistics. Forms and tables were all maintained to be minimalist to make it easy to understand by employees across the organisation.
Visual Design
The designs where then brought to life with the foundation of the wireframes and putting the brand guidelines to effect which resulted in a minimalist and clean web interface to run the company's activities with ease.
SPRO MOBILE APP
SPro mobile application was built to assist the Service professionals (SPros) as they go out and complete rides and deliveries on a regular basis. The SPro app has the following as some the key features,
Scan assigned vehicle and start shift
View tasks (rides/deliveries) for the day
View history of logged shift times through the weeks
Apply for leaves
Raise disputes and incident reports when issues arise.
Wireframes
A glimpse of the wireframes constructed for the SPro mobile app
Visual Design
The goal with the SPro mobile application was to make it as simple as possible for the drivers to start their shift and view the assigned services. Tertiary actions such raising disputes, applying for leaves etc was maintained within the More section to keep the navigation to the important pages clear and concise.
CPRO MOBILE APP
Since the Connectivity professionals (CPro) generally manage multiple FOSs (warehouses), the CPro mobile application was built to help them manage their day to day activities on the go, without having to sit in front of a laptop the entire day.
Key features of the app included,
Manage Drivers
Manage Vehicles
Manage Accounts
Assign drivers to vehicles and accounts
Perform daily vehicle maintenance checklists
Visual Design
The goal of the visuals was to build a simple, all up front mobile application which would help the user's to take actions without having to perform multiple clicks. The design followed the brand guidelines used in the EPro web app and SPro mobile application.
